I am a Level 2 certified instructor with the APMA and have been teaching Pilates since 2011. I was introduced to Pilates in 2009 and enrolled to become an instructor after just a few sessions. Having always stayed active through swimming, running or cycling, I love the precision and challenge of Pilates and how it brings strength and balance to the body.
I enjoy introducing people to the fundamentals of Pilates and have a particular passion for teaching pre and postnatal women. I also regularly participate in workshops and courses to improve and expand my knowledge. I hold a Bach of Commerce as well as certificates in massage, group fitness and nutrition and prior to teaching Pilates I worked in sports event management for seven years.
When I’m not teaching Pilates I have an 11-month-old baby boy keeping me busy. I also grab any opportunity to ride my mountain bike or escape the city to spend time in Mount Beauty.
I am currently co-chair of the APMA Education Committee and the owner and Director of Evolved Pilates, a new and innovative Pilates Studio in Fairfield. We also offer the APMA Level 2 Teacher Training Certificate. Example of recent lectures I have presented on to Pilates Instructors, Physiotherapist and other health professionals include Dynamic Hip Stability for the APMA, Springboard repertoire for the APMA and Posture and Alignment for the Southern Federation of Dance Teaching Certificate.
I have been instructing Pilates since 2005 and hold a Level 4 Professional Practitioner qualification with the APMA. While my training is comprehensive, I have a specific focus on rehabilitation. Having worked closely with physiotherapists and other practitioners within the industry, as well as having been a dance teacher for 12 years, I have an in-depth knowledge of physiology and biomechanics and my teaching and exercise prescription reflects the individual physical and mental needs of my clients.
I love to work with a variety of clients and have a particular interest in easing lower back pain, pelvic instability and lower limb dysfunction, spinal injuries and dance conditioning

Melanie started her Pilates journey in 1999 while completing her BA Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her love of all things movement based especially with attention to detail and technique had her soon training to become a Pilates teacher. With now 15 years of Pilates teaching behind her she enjoys her time in the studio where she gets to help people improve their pain levels and give them back the confidence to move freely. She is passionate about educating clients and teachers on how to look after their bodies for the long term.
Her experience includes working with clients who have been referred from allied medical practitioner’s, along with clients needing to improve functional movements for specific sports.
In addition to her Pilates training Melanie runs a pre requisite Anatomy course for people wanting to become Pilates teachers, holds a Cert 4 in Work Place Training and Assessment and a Certificate 4 in Personal Training and lectures on the Evolved Pilates Level 2 APMA teacher training course.
